REMINDER

This Saturday, our tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri Civil War Museum at Jefferson Barracks. Following a brief introduction by the museum staff, we will tour the exhibits. Admission will be $7.00 per person, provided we have at least 10 participants.

Those who wish to join the group for lunch will head to Berix Restaurant, a Bosnian restaurant on Lemay Ferry Road, about five minutes from the museum.

Although we cannot enter the active military installation, we can view portions of the historic post through the fence. Following lunch, I will give a brief presentation on Jefferson Barracks as it appeared in 1861 and its role during the early months of the Civil War.

From there, we will visit the Jefferson Barracks Powder Magazine Museum, which offers free admission. Both museums close at 4:00 p.m., after which we can explore monuments and memorials throughout the park.

That’s our plan for the day! I hope you can join us for an enjoyable, informative tour of one of Missouri’s most historically significant military sites. Please try to let me know if you plan to attend so I can ensure we have 10 participants to get the discounted rate at the Missouri Civil War Museum.

See you Saturday,

Doug
